21st Dön Day Dorje Kasung Clan Gathering at Dechen Chöling

The Kasung Academy will consist of streams of teachings and practice for the Gesar, Desung, Kusung, NCOs, and Trident practitioners. We will also join together for talks and reconnect with our usual Kasung forms and practices: saluting, uniforms, drill and mess in the beautiful French countryside.

Programme description
Inspired by the need to protect the continuous unfolding of the Shambhala-Buddhist Dharma in these increasingly oppressive times, the Dorje Kasung want to do their part for the timely and effective integration of the four pillars of Shambhala. This can only be achieved on the basis of authentic and mindful communication, infused by both maitri and karuna. We understand that we are capable of such communication only when we are fully present in our body, heart and mind. This is why we offer the 2017 Dön Day Programme of the Dorje Kasung in North-eastern Europe as an opportunity for representatives of all the four pillars of our community to contemplate and practice together “Awake! Presence of body, speech and mind in communication.” We will study with and under the guidance of our dear Acharya Sabine Rolf, who was invited by Acharya Susan Chapman to teach the communication approach in her book “The Five Keys to Mindful Communication” throughout Europe. Acharya Rolf brings to the programme not only her expertise in mindful communication, but also her long experience of working together with others as representative of Shambhala Europe. She will lead us in preparatory meditation practice as well as different hands-on exercises that enable us to understand and feel more intensely, how we experience being open, insecure, or shut down in our communications. The weekend allows for protected space to explore our vulnerability in difficult situations and how we can contact the wisdom and information that exists inseparably from these difficulties.

We hope that you feel inspired as we are and join us in Hamburg next February!

Protecting Peace: Working with Conflict – Marburg

The MARBURG Shambhala Centre is pleased to offer a weekend education programme hosted by the Desung Arm of the Dorje Kasung                                                                                                     Facilitated by Sibylle Fraund, Kadö and Irene Vliegenthart, Rupön

June 12-14 2015

Question : What would you do if there were no conflict?

Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche: “It would be deadly. Working with conflict is precisely the idea of walking the spiritual path. The path is a wild, winding mountain road with all kind of curves; there are wild animals, attacks by bandits, all kinds of situations cropping up. As far as the occupation of our mind is concerned, the chaos of the path is the fun.” – Chögyam Trungpa – Dawn of Tantra

…”the fact that our society is experiencing a high level of fear and doubt is a signal for humanity not to give up, but rather to engage further with our enlightened tendencies” – Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche – The Shambhala Principle

The weekend is a precious training opportunity for desung and for kasung with an interest in desung practice. Members of Social Health and Well-Being are warmly invited, as well as anyone who holds a leadership position within the Shambhala mandala, including directors, council members, teachers and meditation instructors and meditation guides.

The Dorje Kasung serves under the leadership of the Makkyi Rabjam, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, inspired by the vision of its founder, the Makkyi Rabjam, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

The commitment of the Dorje Kasung is to benefit others and bring about VICTORY OVER WAR.

The desung work with aspects of the mandala to promote harmony, and well-being.

CONFLICT can arise in any situation or society and the Shambhala teachings developed many skilful means to work with difficult situations in our society.

This training aims to deepen our connection with basic goodness so that kindness and steadiness prevail even in speedy and chaotic situations. It will examine how to realize and integrate that vision into Shambhala councils and communities, and develop confidence in caring for situations of disharmony or obstruction.

Public talk: Friday 12th June 2015 – 7.30 pm to 9. pm

Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th June – 10am to 6.30 pm

Sunday 30th November – 10am to 5pm Intensive Training Seminar

Question : What would you do if there were no conflict?
Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche: “It would be deadly.

In any situation or society, conflict can arise. This weekend training programme is open to all Dorje Kasung and Shambhala leaders. It is an opportunity to study and practice teachings given by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche to the Dorje Kasung, focusing on working with conflict and aggression.

The weekend includes meditation practice, talks, discussion groups, and role play in a contained environment that allows personal and collective wisdom to arise.

The Dorje Kasung is a service organisation within Shambhala, which was formed by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Its motto is Victory Over War. It is a means of taking the mindfulness and awareness we experience in our meditation practice out into the world. Meditation is a means of protecting our mind and being able to create space and remain steady when situations become chaotic or uncertain.

We extend this into every situation we encounter in our daily lives with the aspiration to create a world based on basic goodness, contentment and peace rather than speed, aggression and inequality. This training aims to deepen our connection with basic goodness so that true kindness can flourish. It will examine how to realize and integrate that vision into Shambhala councils and communities, and also develop confidence in caring for situations of disharmony or obstruction.

The talk on Friday evening is public and open to all. The Saturday and Sunday training is open to all members of the Dorje Kasung and anyone who holds a leadership position within the Shambhala mandala. This includes, Directors, Acharyas, Shastris, Meditation Instructors, Shambhala Guides, and Programme Coordinators and staff.
